I am considering the future of the Lutheran Blog Directory. When the blogosphere exploded years ago, this seemed a good idea for Lutherans to help "find each other". My perception, lately, is that the blog is being pushed out, especially by Facebook and other online social media.

Has this site outlived it usefulness? I welcome your frank but kind comments on the future of the Lutheran Blog Directory.

Recently I have received a number of odd requests to list sites in the Lutheran Blog Directory. Each of these requests was from an online dating site - with no connection to Lutheranism whatsoever. One was for deaf singles, another for millionaire singles, and another for singles with STDs! Yeouch!

The guidelines clearly state that blogs listed here will pertain to Lutheranism (somehow).

I also recently added a disclaimer to this page (cf. the right hand column). A simultaneous advantage and disadvantage of blogging is the great freedom to say whatever one wants. Consider this reality as you make responsible use of the Lutheran blogs listed here.

As always, your comments and suggestions for improvement are welcome.

We've had a good showing from the Australian Lutherans in the listings here, so much so that it seemed time to create a category for them. You'll also find it with the others in the right sidebar.

According to Pastor Pukallus of our newest Australian Blog, Friar Puk's Postings, there is really only one major denomination of Lutherans in Australia (the LCA). However because there are some smaller groups, it seemed fitting to create just one category for all our Lutheran Bloggers from "Down Under".

I've also added a link in our section, "Lutherans on Blogging". It's a recent article from the ELCA publication "The Lutheran". Let me know if you find any other Lutheran blog posts on Lutheran blogging, and I will list them too!

Well, I finally decided to dump Bravenet, our "Freelinks" host. The free directory was approaching the maximum 200 total listings, and I was getting sick of the ads. So with a little doing, I was able to move the listing to another location. Other updates include:

1. I will be listing RSS feeds next to each blog, but this feature isn't complete yet.

2. Blogs are currently listed alphabetically, but from now on I will post the newest blogs at the top of each sub-directory. This will help you to "keep up" with new listings.

Due to an inexplicable technical issue with Bravenet (our hosting site), I didn't receive new listing notifications for a few weeks. Sorry to all those who have been waiting; I am usually more prompt about approving new blogs!

Anywho... we have added about 9 new ones to our directory and that means coming dangerously close to the 200 maximum for free use. So either I start paying, or move the listing somewhere, or something else. If you have any suggestions, you can email me: tomchryst at yaoo.com

In "penance" for my tardiness in listing the new sites, I thought I would put in a plug for my favorite in the new class: "Luther at the Movies". I have often said that if Luther were alive today, he would be blogging. Apparently, he is!
